As most of you know the violence and the bullying in our schools has spun out of control. I am a concerned parent who thinks it high time someone stepped up, spoke up, and stands up for these children who are being tormented in school. I feel that if we come together as a community we can get more parents and teachers to become more aware of the problem. Our children are becoming afraid to attend school, ride the bus. play on the playground and even attend school events. They should be able to go to school and get an education without living in fear of getting beat up because of what they wear, say, or who they may be related to. They are being made fun of, laughed at, talked about, and beat up. This makes it very hard for these kids to have any self worth or reason to stay in school. The school drop out rate and suicide rate is on the rise across america in young kids and 90% of it is due to violence and bullying in the schools. Parents need to take action at home by teaching their children respect, self-esteem, and values. If we don't take action now it could become much worse than it already is. The violence alone is so bad kids are being hospitalized and if not stopped someone's child is going to end up dead.
