It has come to the attention of Kearney High’s Class of 2013 that there is a possibility that graduates will not receive their diplomas on stage. Instead, graduates will be given an empty envelope on stage, diplomas will be handed out in the field house after the ceremony In addition, pictures of the graduates receiving their diplomas will not be taken on stage. Receiving diplomas on stage is a time honored tradition at Kearney High and, being the last Class A school in the state to do so, it is our responsibly to uphold this tradition. Therefore, the Class of 2013 requests that this tradition will be upheld and the integrity of our graduation ceremony remain in tact. Below are the signatures of members of Kearney High School’s Class of 2013 that share the belief that we should continue the tradition of receiving Diplomas on stage. All signees of this petition agree to uphold all standards of conduct during the ceremony and realize that if inappropriate conduct occurs, proper disciplinary measures will be taken.
