As an author of a book on educational reform, "Empowering the Child: Nurturing the Hungry Mind" along with 36 years of experience in education I believe that I am more than qualified to make a substantial contribution to the evolution of educational experiences of the youth of Springs School. In addition I have a doctorate in education from a prestigious R&D center at the University of Pittsburgh where I studied under the guidance of some of the top researchers in the country. There are few in Springs that have this unique set of qualifications.

I have spend my entire life as a summer resident of Springs beginning in 1931. Since retiring in '96 I  have made several major contributions to the East End including petitioning the Suffolk County Water Authority to bring "Town Water" to the residents of Gerard Drive and most recently I undertook the recreation of the Pussy's Pond Bridge utilizing Black Locust harvested here on the east end.

From my perspective my home in Old Fireplace has represented the Touch Stone in my life. I learned to sail here exploring the bays and harbors, I helped to develop part of the trail system of East Hampton where I have held the position of Special Projects Coordinator for the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society.

My most commendable role has been as the President of the East End Classic Boat Society where I directed the creation of the Community Boat Shop located behind the Marine Museum on Bluff Road in Amagansett, raising $450,000. This site is open to the public where it celebrates the recreation of traditional sailing and rowing craft as these skills were at the turn of the 20th century.
I am ready to focus my attention to the improvement of education offerings here in Springs if you are so good as to sign this petition and vote for me at the upcoming Springs School budget on May  , 2013.
