This petition is against Wake county's current proposal to change the bell schedule for the 2012-2013 school year. Wake county has consistently asked for parental input, then promptly ignored it. For some schools in Wake county, this change represents a significant hardship to parents regarding morning care, afternoon care and extracurricular activities. It also negatively affects teachers schedules and their potential to hold their current employment at their schools. Educational research has shown that elementary school children are more likely to thrive on an earlier schedule, while teenagers are more likely to thrive on a later schedule, but the opposite is what is being proposed by the current school board.
