Jefferson Academy Food Program

Jefferson Academy built a new builiding for the secondary students. The school moved in February 2013 with no functioning kitchen.  Single-item meals, in very small portions, in plastic containers, with no snack options, have been delivered to school on a daily basis. Students have no choice in food items. Often they resume classes feeling still hungry. It's been very difficult for school to monitor the amount of ordered food. There has been either too many or not enough!

There is still good amount of money available to modify the kitchen area into a functioning facility where descent food can be made fresh daily. This way the school can save on  delivery, food preparation and packagaing cost. Your child will be happier and your mind will be at peace that he/she will have a nutritious, healthy meal at school.

The secondary students are in a critical life stage when food plays an important role in their growth, learning, and mental health. It is important to ensure they turn into healthy, active younge adults and this won't be possible unless we can closely monitor their food at school.

We're asking board members to vote on allocating portion of the available money to finish the kitchen at the secondary site.  The rest can be used for elementary site renovation/remodeling as requested by their parents!

Please take an active role and sign this petition for the board meeting on April 11, 2013. We only have a few days. So please take a moment and put your name down. You owe this to your children!
