Why sign this petition? Because music is a documentation of our world's history. Through it we learn about different cultures, the life changing events that struck many nations, and how people coped.
The "History of Punk Rock" course is by far, one of the most interesting and educational courses at Portland State University. It is taught by Portland's very own Mr. Jesse McCann, an inspirational instructor and musician, whose great ability to clearly connect the music with the cultural history make this course an unforgettable one.
However, we the students feel that the course is not getting equal recognition from the university as other music history courses. We would like these changes to be applied:
1- This course should be offered ALL year long. It should be offered in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms.
2- This course should be offered as a full length course, not just a 4 week course.
Help us achieve our goal in getting this great course recognized the way it should be.
