Our University has in recent times seen an increasing pattern of criminal acts taking place in parking lots. Many students have had their vehicles broken into, resulting in damaged or stolen property while others have even had their vehicles egged. University police are unable to stop or solve these cases because there is absolutely no surveillance in the parking lots. Students pay to park their cars on campus with the assumption that the University has taken the proper precautions to protect them. Residential students pay even more money to the university and should not have their personal property damaged or stolen in the place that they call home. The only way to control this phenomenon and put an end to it is to place cameras in all parking lots. If this is not done students will undoubtedly begin canceling their housing contracts and/or parking permits, moving off campus, or possibly even moving to another university where they feel safer. We've got to work together to make positive changes happen and as students, we should fight for our rights. Show support for this proposal by signing this petition.
