The downfall of our society will be the result of our Ignorance of the truth and our Arrogance in our belief that we know it all.
Since most of our citizens receive, the majority of their information from outside sources it is imperative that the information received over publically owned airwaves is truthful and not misleading. Since the repeal of a similar law by the Reagan administration, our airwaves have been flooded with lie and misleading information.
I propose a new National Truth in Journalism Law. The law would prohibit the broadcasting of false or misleading information on public airwaves. The strength of our democracy depends upon the free flow of truthful, non-misleading information giving each of our citizens the abilty to make fully informed decisions.
