At several meetings held between UNZALARU Executive Committee and the general membership, the call for the Executive Committee to constantly keep its members informed with what is obtaining on the ground have sadly been ignored by those entrusted with the affairs of running the UNION.
The Executive Committee has always chosen wrong times when to meet the membership and in most cases, this has been done when there is pending crisis. What is more surprising though is that the Executive Committee is ever holding meetings whose agenda or outcomes are not shared when it matters most with the membership. One wonders then what the role of the office of the Publicity Secretary plays apart from calling for emergency meetings. Unfortunately, the membership has been left to feed on rumours each time there is a pending issue at UNZA.
It is in light of the above that, we, the paid up members of UNZALARU, wish to exercise our right to petition the UNZALARU Executive Committee to call for an Annual General meeting as soon as possible, preferably before the end of THE FIRST QUARTER of 2013, at which the Committee is expected to provide to the general membership reports on the following items:
1. Status of permanent/pensionable employment
2. Liempe plots/rumored Chinese houses for mortgages
3. UNZALARU audited accounts for the past 3 years (your previous term)
4. Medical scheme (not happy with the current one)
5. Date and month for holding annual general meetings
6. Poor work environment (e.g. lack of offices, shortage of lecturer rooms, labs, etc.)
7. UNZALARU plans for 2013
8. Housing allowances for those accommodated in UNZA houses
9. Research fund
10. A.O.B
