We, the undersigned registered voters of SAU 34, believe that all students deserve the following:
- Engaging and appropriate common instruction in a group of their academic peers
- Opportunities to aspire to new academic heights through enrichment as supported by a Schoolwide Enrichment Model
Our goal as a community is to ensure that every child thrives in HDSD schools. To that end, we encourage the HDSD school board to create a steering committee consisting of community members, teachers, and administrators. The steering committee will focus on determining if every child is currently being given ample opportunity to excel in the HDSD adademic environment. The goal of the steering committee will be to formulate an action plan that the school board and staff will implement. We believe it is the school board's responsibility to ensure that appropriate funding and personnel are assigned to resolving this very critical issue for the upcoming school year.
While it has been stated that these issues are beginning to be addressed within the district, we are no longer willing to accept promises and intentions over actions. The district's test scores indicate that our schools need improvement and that action is long overdue. Our students, teachers, and community deserve a bold response to this issue.
