Currently, there are 3 options being considered. All 3 of these options move our kids from SPES to Gayton. The problem for us lies in option 3, called the "blended option". This option moves us to Gayton, but then puts Gayton at 110% capacity for the 2013-14 school year, followed by 103%, then 100% the third year. Moving our kids from an overcrowded elementary school to another one that is now overcrowded as a result of our kids being moved there does not make sense. If we are being redistricted because of overcrowding, then I expect my child's move to result in smaller class size, not the opposite. What does make sense is updating the blended option to keep us at SPES, where the projected percentage under this plan puts it at 2013-14 at 86%, follow by 93% the next year. This would certainly help balance it out.
