Applegarth Elementary School is planned to open as scheduled for the 2012/2013 school year despite the fact that the building is not ADA compliant and does notmeet building codes of today.
The Board of Education had a "Plan B" option that they should be moving forward with, which was to move trailer classrooms that are already being paid for by the taxpayers over to Oak Tree School for no cost to the district. These trailers can hold 8 classrooms that would alleviate overcrowding at Oak Tree until the Board completes the renovations to Applegarth School that bring it up to today's building codes and makes it ADA compliant.
Residents of Monroe Township who are concerned with the state of Applegarth Elementary School and want to see it closed for at least another year for renovations should sign the petition.
