We are deeply concerned by Northwestern's recent decision to no longer recognize Rabbi Dov Hillel Klein as a campus chaplain and to disaffiliate with the Tannenbaum Chabad House. We know Rabbi Klein, who has served Northwestern for almost three decades, and we know this decision will have a severely negative impact on the lives of students at Northwestern for decades to come. We know because each of us has benefited from his dedication, warmth and friendship. We know because we have been with Rabbi Klein at Shabbat dinners, holiday services, campus events, trips to Israel and much more. We know he is a huge advocate for student life at Northwestern, for student happiness, success, safety and well-being. We know without Rabbi Klein Northwestern is far less capable of providing the world-class experience that it promises. We therefore urge you to do everything possible to make sure the Tannenbaum Chabad House regains its affiliation with Northwestern University and Rabbi Klein is reinstated as a campus chaplain, again able to contribute his tremendous services to Northwestern students on campus.
