As of 1st July 2012 ILA200 is no longer available to anyone who holds a degree, despite the unemployment rate amongst recent graduates in Scotland being almost 19% more than double the national average according to STV's "Scotland Tonight" (2012).
Citizens Advice Scotland has launched a nationwide survey to reveal the extent of the problem and discover how the country's ex-students are being failed.
In light of this fact, it is disheartening to see that one thing which might have helped unemployed and low-income graduates find jobs or pay for CPD (Continued Professional Development), is now no longer available to them.
The ILA200 provides £200 a year towards course fees to anyone who is unemployed or earning £22,000 per year or less. Many adults have been able to improve their employability or fulfil CPD requirements because they have been able to access this funding. Up until this summer, that is.
There is also a potential knock-on effect. If there are less people able to access these courses, there will be less need for evening and part-time lecturers, and so unemployment may well rise within this sector too.
Please sign the petition to request Skills Development Scotland to reconsider their decision with regards to eligibility of Individual Learning Accounts to be provided to every adult in Scotland, without prejudice of previous qualifications.
Please also take this opportunity to email your concerns about this decision to:

Thank you.
