Oklahoma ranks 49th in the nation in expenditures per student. 49th is Not OK!
An adequate education is a basic right of every Oklahoma child, and the state should fund education at an appropriate level so schools can provide this service.
That's why we're urgently calling on the Oklahoma Legislature to add $50 million in new money to the education budget to begin restoring education funding.
If we don’t stand up and advocate restoring education funding to pre-recession levels:
- Class sizes will increase
- Teachers and coaches will be cut
- Course offerings will be eliminated
- School districts stand to lose key resources
We must speak up now to ensure children in our state get an education and ensure Oklahoma has a bright economic future. This trend will affect Oklahoma children and our economic future for decades if it is not reversed.
