Keep Professor Marco Gonzalez at SRJC

Unfortunately, Summer 2012 will be Professor Gonzalez's last semester at SRJC due to budget cuts. As many of you know, budget cuts means that some faculty and staff will lose their jobs but Professor Marco Gonzalez should not be one of the faculty members affected. Anyone that has been taught by Marco Gonzalez can see that he clearly has a true passion for Sociology as well as teaching. Those of you who have had Professor Gonzalez know the quality of education he provides for his students. For those who have not yet taken a course with him, not having the chance is a tremendous loss. If you ever want to learn about Sociology from a well-informed, passionate professional, Marco is the professor you'd want. Sadly many may not get the chance.

Santa Rosa Junior College budget cuts have been noticeably affecting the quality of education its students receive, lowering the standard of high quality education by cutting great teachers to save money to make a budget work. By depriving students of exemplary teachers, who motivate students in learning, the standard of education expected from a SRJC has been lessened significantly. For those that want to go back to school to further their education, those that haven't yet graduated, those that have yet to take a Sociology course, and those that have taken Sociology with Marco Gonzalez but want to take more courses with him, our chances of getting another professor that cares as much as Marco does about Sociology, about his career, and about his students has been remarkably reduced.

Professor Marco Gonzalez is a professor who really captivates his students. He provides his students with the quality of education that we all hope for but rarely get. At a Junior College most of us can only dream of getting a professor as dedicated and inspiring as Marco Gonzalez. He lectures with enthusiasm and passion. He motivates every student to participate and ask questions. While managing to actually have every student LEARN the information rather than just memorize it, he adds humor and keeps everyone extremely interested. He is always more than happy to discuss Sociology in and out of the classroom. He recommends that students come to him if they want to discuss Sociology further or simply have a chat. He makes his students excited to come to class. Every student at Santa Rosa Junior College should have the opportunity to experience a class with Professor Gonzalez.

Demand that Chair of Behavioral Sciences Department Jurgen Kremer; Administrative assistants Lori Derum and Linda Smith, Dean Ruth McMullen, and President of Santa Rosa Junior College Frank Chong, find room in the budget to keep Professor Marco Gonzalez. Sign this petition to tell Santa Rosa Junior College that you will not sit back and accept this cut quietly.
