BC, Allow Teachers to Quote Dr. Seuss

According to the Vancouver Sun, teachers in British Columbia have been informed that they may not quote or expose students to certain Dr. Seuss quotes because they are considered to be “too political.” These teachers are currently protesting Bill 22 and have been wearing shirts and buttons with Dr. Seuss quotes on them.

However, in Prince Rupert, BC, the school administrator informed the teachers that the Dr. Seuss quote, “I know up on top you are seeing great sights, but down here on the bottom, we too should have rights” is too politically charged. As Dr. Seuss and his books are widely known for promoting rights and equality, this new censorship on teachers is ridiculous.

Tell British Columbia that banning Dr. Seuss quotes is absolutely absurd as teachers should be allowed to quote a great fighter of equality.
