After working for months with a New Jersey school over disturbing claims about his autistic son’s behavior, his father took drastic action. He sent Akian to school wired with a recording device.
On the tapes he heard teachers and aides literally bullying his son, making Akian’s life “a living hell,“ his father said in a public video. My son didn’t go to school,” he added, “he went to prison, and he learned to fight to survive.”
After the school received the six hours of evidence revealing teachers repeatedly speaking inappropriately in the classroom and to Akian, specifically, it responded first by moving his teacher and firing the aide. Soon after, the teacher and others were placed on leave.
But Akian’s father wants more; he wants an apology, as well as an end to tenure or any other circumstance that prevents firing teachers who bully children.
