If you feel that Cassie Beyer is ineffectual and negative in the classroom, then you should sign this petition.
- You are paying for you education, and you deserve a teacher who has enthusiasm for the subject for which he or she is responsible.
- Regardless as to whether you have taken Beyer's classes out of interest or for a general education requirement, a good teacher can generate interest in any subject, and Beyer has done nothing to do this.
- A textbook should be a suplement to education, yet you are not given the option of using yours this way. If we're expected to learn all of the material out of the book, then what do you need Cassie Beyer for?
- Powerpoint presentations are unacceptable. Even teachers who use them usually create outlines on a projector along with the class in order to show the important points being learned. Cassie Beyer, however, seems entirely dependent on her powerpoint in order to teach.
- Beyer has unrealistic expectations of how quickly students are to learn, covering many chapters per test, often "teaching" more than one chapter per week.
- Aside from ineffectual and lackluster teaching, Beyer is often condescending, and assumes that students who don't understand the material or get good grades are simply not reading enough. This shows her inability and unwillingness to help student learning. If she doesn't want to be a teacher, and assumes that all of her students are lazy freshman who have no interest in academia, then why is she in education?
- Cassie Beyer doesn't seem to have a thorough understanding of her own subject. Besides being dependent on her powerpoints (from which she rarely strays), she often mispronounces words (for example: Pediment, which she has pronounced as "ped-i-ment" and "peed-i-ment" on separeat occasions) and has to research any student questions.
- Despite low clicker scores, Beyer never goes over the answers! Even if over half of the class gets the answer wrong, she just moves on without comment.
