The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors, which aims to provide conditional residency to certain undocumented immigrants of good moral character who graduate from U.S. high schools, arrived in the United States as minors, and lived in the country continuously for at least five years, has been lurking in congress since Senators Dick Durbin(D-ILL) and Orin Hatch(R-UT) first introduced it to congress in 2001. Recent research from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office states the DREAM Act in its current form will cut the deficit by $1.4 billion and increase government revenues by $2.3 billion over the next 10 years. According to a recent UCLA study, students that would be impacted by the DREAM Act could add between $1.4 to $3.6 trillion in taxable income to our economy over the course of careers. It is time for both Democrats and Republicans to stop playing politics with people's lives. Please sign this petition to get both Democrats and Republicans to compromise on this important issue.
