With just a few simple courses that any upwardly mobile educator can master in weeks, an incompetent teacher with a personal or political agenda can be advanced to a high-paying position of power and easily affect school policy. The "dumbing down" of American educational institutions is largely perpetuated by incompetence at the administrative level. The adage --"Those who can't teach go into administration"--has never been more apt than today. These administrators are responsible for evaluating teachers and determining what courses should be taught and what subjects are valued and supported. It's time to call school administrators to task and demand a higher standard for powerfull administrative positions in our schools.
