My stepdaughter just graduated from Fordam High School of the Arts as Valedictorian. She was told she was to receive a scholarship in the amount of $1500.00. She has worked hard her whole high school career, interned, became Valedictorian, did community service and ended up taking home 10 awards on graduation. We are very upset to find out that the scholarship she was promised was given to the runner up and she was told she is going to be receiving the lesser one of $500.00. She also just recently found out that the runner up is not even going to a state school so he will not be receiving that scholarship either, no one will. When my daughter asked how this happened, she was told that the paperwork got messed up and there is nothing they can do. I felt she is being treated so unfairly so I went down to the school, spoke to her guidance counselor and principal. The guidance counselor was appologetic but the principal was very rude and uncaring. She asked me "what do I want her to do about it", it was too late and for my daughter to get a summer job to make up for the lost funds. I cant believe how this could of happened and the response I got from her school. My stepdaughter got accepted to Purchase college and because of financial situations she is in desperate need of that money to make sure she can attend. Hoping this petition will help my stepdaughter get what was promised to her and what she worked so hard for. I have even started a fund for her to help her lift her spirits. http://www.gofundme.com/3e37q0
