We, the students, parents, and friends of the ETHS Class of 2014, urge the 202 Board of Education and Administration to adopt the proposal and amendment that would eliminate class rank for all ETHS students, including the Class of 2014.
Ranking harms far more students than it helps by enabling colleges to use tiny, insignificant differences between students to deny them admissions and/or scholarships to preferred schools. Conversely, the elimination of rank benefits students at all performance levels (including the highest performing students, who are more often accepted to elite schools as a result).
Please join all other schools on the north shore in eliminating class rank--effective immediately--including for the Class of 2014. Please support all ETHS students by giving them the best possible chance of getting accepted at their preferred colleges and winning the scholarships they've worked hard to earn.
