I call on the Ontario minister of Education to lower the daycare costs in Mississauga due to the many low-income families which could not afford daycare at such a high cost.
Mississauga is a city where many new immigrants settle, which means there are many low-income families. Since the number of low-income families are so big, the daycare cost should be lowered throughout the whole city.
I've had bad experience associated with the current daycare cost which is between $30-40. When I first entered high school, I couldn't join any clubs becuase my family had very low income, and my mother went to college for higher education. I have a sister who is was five at the time, and becuase both me and my mom were busy studying at school or working, no one could take care of her. We had no choice but to send her to daycare. In order to save money, my mother sent her to daycare for only the first half of the day, and for the second half, I was responsible for taking care of her. Due to my responsibility of taking care of my sister, I couldn't join any club nor could I enjoy after school fun.
I don't want other people to go through what I went through, and I believe there are families with worse situations than mine, so I believe the government should lower daycare costs.
