This petition is against Wake county's current proposal to change the bell schedule for the 2012-2013 school year. Wake county has consistently asked for parental input, then promptly ignored it. For some schools in Wake county, this change represents a significant hardship to parents regarding morning care, afternoon care and extracurricular activities. It also negatively affects teachers schedules and their potential to hold their current employment at their schools. Changing the schedules will make carpool lines longer, cause children to have to be picked up earlier in the morning, and dropped off significantly later in the afternoons. With an increased need for before and after school care, parents would be forced to find alternatives for childcare which may not exist because the current entities simply cannot accomodate more children.
