Jack Minnick has been the principal at Trinity East for the past 6 years. He is kind, strong, smart and capable. He cares about all of our students as if they were his own children. He knows their names and their families. The children like him and they respect him, he is unfailingly kind to them but strict and tough when he needs to be. He is supportive of his teachers, he is available and responsive to parents.
At Trinity East we like to say “everyone achieves success together”. The principal is such an important part of the equation. With all of the concerns this year about the safety of our elementary school children in this country I think that it is important to say that all the locked doors in the world will only take you so far. Having capable staff who know the children and their parents, who know family situations, and who is allowed to pick the children up is essential to keeping the kids safe. Three years ago we had 3 adults in the front office who had this role, one principal and two secretaries. Then there were two because one secretary position was cut, then there was one – because the secretary was rotated to another school and we had a new secretary who didn’t know anyone. So now we are being asked to be okay with that position also turning over – leaving no one in the front office with the institutional knowledge of our student body. We are signing this petition because that is NOT okay.
The parents of Trinity East will not blindly accept the decision made by the district superintendent.
We support our principal. We do not want the superintendant to force this change on us. We are asking to board to stop this. It is not in anyone’s best interest.
