This letter is to explain why I failed at having an acceptable G.P.A. during my tenure at tbe University of Louisville in my early years and why I should be accepted for admissions now for the Summer 2013-2014.
When I graduated high school in 1994, I was excited to finally feel like I was on my way of becoming a true adult. I wanted to gain the acceptance of my Father and Mother. I got a full-time job and I soon moved in with a roomate. I also enrolled at the University of Louisville after a couple of years on my own when I thought I was ready to tackle the real world. Working, paying bills, having my own apartment, and going to college. I soon realized that half way through the semester I was in over my head. I was afraid to tell my family that I was failing and was partying too hard. Having fun and having a job to have my own place seemed it was the priority at the time. When it should be school the main priority. Being a very persistant person I hated to fail so I left the University of Louisville and just focused on work. There I soon exceled. I became a supervisor and traveled. Once I felt my life was stable and after talking with my parents, I chose to start Jefferson Community College to continue with my studies. I had a long way to go to bring my G.P.A. up to acceptable levels.
A few years later I ended up with Cancer twice and survived. I had to withdrawel from JCC because of my first Cancer issue. Once I recovered I was back in class. "I never gave up". That became my life moto. I was all cleared by my physcians and I had a beautiful daughter. My husband and I were elated. After some time off to care for her, I returned to further my education. This time with a bigger purpose than myself. I am going because I want to be a great role model for our daughter and to be able to give her a life she deserves after I acquire a degree. Then I was told I had Cancer again. This time I was in the hospital for a little while, but once I was out I return to further my studies. "I never gave up".
I transferred to Spalding University where I have worked so hard to bring my G.P.A. up. At Spalding University I had a 3.72 G.P.A. I was proud of my hard work, dedication, and persistence. Our daughter is in Pre-school and see's her Mommy doing her homework. She gets inspired to do her homework. I am not the young naive adult I was when I forst attended the University of Louisville. I am now more focused and driven. I appreciate every little thing in life. I do not take my studies for granted. I definitely have a complete perspective about my own Professors.
I am here and ready to work hard. I will not stop until I finish as a Graduate Student. Please accept this letter for my Petition for Admission to the Univesity of Louisville Summer 2013-2014.
Sincerely,
Carla McMurtrie
