Too many of America's children and young people are growing up with out proper training and information that could alter the quality of their lives ,and ultimatly the impact they have on the world. It isn't enough anymore to simply say its the parents place to teach, self awareness, anger management, self -control and self-esteem, because it simply isn't being done and too many parents haven't learned it themselves. The life-skills program , which was primarily designed for adults trying to correct negative thinking paterns and habits they developed as children , and has since then been modified to address younger adults to help them learn basic life skills needed to function in our society. Enlightenment into their power of chioce, the level of control over their reactions and responces to situations,the correct information to enable them to assess situations, risk, responsibility and possible solutions, can only serve to create wiser, better adjusted and empowered young people. The world we live in has changed on so many levels and our impact on the future of the plant is an accepted fact, so why has school cirriculum stayed antiquated and stagnant ? For our own benifit and the benifit of our children and grandchildren we need to accept that if we want to ensure our young people grow up with values and respect for each other and their world..we HAVE TO make sure the information is made available to them and hat they understand it and and can be accountable for that knowledge. Bringing programs like life-skills into the cirriculum we teach our children not only reinstills the values we want are children to have and try to teach them, but it brings the information and teachings to children who are not getting it at home and WON'T. Stop being one of the people who complain about todays young people and become one of the people who recognise a very real problem in our society and take steps to try to do something to make the problem better. Before you sign this if your not familiar with the life-skills program I recommend you check into it..but by all means come back and sign this petition, its time we ensure that children are learning more social-skills,ethics and life-skills than they do in the most teachable years of their lives.
