It is not right to force the School Board to " volunteer" their services. Our election process has placed these persons on the Board to carry out this work, representing us on the School Board and making difficult budgetary decisions. About 2,000 voters cast their ballots to elect these board members, expecting to pay them. we should respect that vote and allow our system to work.
It does not seem reasonable that 77 angry and loud people at this meeting on 04-22-2013 override the vote of 2,000 people and disrespect the value of their work. We should allow the voters of our community to respond to this forced volunteer action. A referendum vote or a petition including all the residents should be held on this issue. We should not discriminate against one school board. The High School Board is paid a modest amount of $3700. per year. We ask for similar compensation be re-instated. In a free nation forced volunteer labor and discrimination is not acceptable.
