Flintshire County Council has put forward a proposal aimed at reducing surplus places in schools.
- One of the four options is to co-locate Westwood Primary School in the Elfed High School, therefore potentially mixing children from ages 3-18 years, should this option get approved. There are many areas for concern:
- Quality and standards of education across both age groups
- Safety and wellbeing for all children
- The unsuitability of the building
- The overall costs
- Pedestrian and vehicle access
- School catchment areas
- Future use and development of Westwood site
These are some of our concerns. Our Group suggests a variation on Option 2, with enhancements at Westwood with a long term aim to increase school numbers at Elfed High School.
We do not believe the proposal for co-location of Westwood Primary School and Elfed High School to be in the best interests of either school and oppose this option completely.
