The Government continually urges Maltese citizens to further their education and the University of Malta is arguably the most popular destination amongst those wishing to further their educations. However, those who drive to their lectures have to contend with spending an obscene amount of time searching for a parking space on a daily basis while frustratingly having to deal with their petrol being consumed right in front of their eyes. Furthermore, the parking areas currently available are hazardous for the well being and safety of the students using them as well as their vehicles.
This petition calls for a strong recommendation for a parking complex to be provided for students and faculty with enough spaces to cater for at least 90% of all cars being used as the main mode of transport by students and faculty alike, whilst at the same time renovating the existing car parks available to bring them up to the quality and standards to Europe as deserved by the students.
It is important to note that many investments are being made into the University of Malta. However our basic needs are not being met. This petition recognises that before moving forward the University and that Government sustaining it should tackle existing problems before attempting new ventures and investments.
