I want all autistic kids to be taught properly. I know some school systems have Developmentally Handicap Classrooms for children, but most don't. And with having Autism, or being on the Autism Spectrum these children have to be taught differently than others with just other developmental disorders. They are just being pushed through the system. Applied Behavior Analysis seems to work best for autistic children,one on one or smaller autism class rooms for kids with 10 or less kids to a 7 teacher ratio for 20 hours at least per week in the public schools for Autistic kids and pre-k children or at least have an aba based classroom these children can still be in main streamed for the rest of the hours of the day. STATISTICS show that children with autism that use the aba based therapy end up being more independent in life.We are wasting more money not teaching autistic children proper ways to coexist in the world. When our child is blind we have braille when our child is deaf we have hearing aids or sign language,when our child is autistic they get thrown into regular ese classrooms with kids who have separate problems.We would not send our deaf child to a classroom with braille or our blind child in a sign language classroom,so why are we throwing autistic kids into over crowded classrooms,there sensory needs are not being met properly and they are not being taught to the best of there abilities,autistic kids are being abused,thrown in corners to stim because some pre-k teachers are not autism trained. Also most k-12 teacher are not properly autism trained.
