The quarterlies are 40% of our marking period grade. The majority of our student body try to voice their concern over this situation, yet their voices are not heard. These tests can define the line between passing and failing for the year. A single test is all it takes for a student with an A or B average to fail for the marking period, leaving a dent in their yearly average. The stress that is induced by these tests are not just felt by the students, but are echoed throughout the administration. In a sense we are simply taught how to take tests. This is not knowledge, it is memorization. Countless hours and days are spent cramming information into our heads, preparing us for tests. Yet we lack the proper knowledge and skills to actually prepare us for the real world. Those that struggle to take tests, yet display intelligence through various other methods are at the mercy of these tests. There are various other ways to measure knowledge, and tests are not for everyone. If you believe your grade is at risk and that these exams could be the downfall for many, do your part by signing this petition and by voicing your concern. This petition may not affect our student body this year, but it may become apparent next year or years to come. Regardless of the outcome our voices will be heard.
