At our school district they are deciding to get rid of the arts.  The arts program helps with many things!

    • Memorization: Remebering lines for a show, lyrics for a musical, notes for a band/orchastra performance..

    • Cordination: Dancing in musical numbers, walking in a straight line for marching band...

    • Responibilty: Scheduling time for a concert, performance, photography shoot, making of a video and still having time for homework, family, and friends!

    • Vocal Skills: Projection and enunciation of your voice. This can help when you give presentations in class!

    • Commintment: You stick with the activity and don't give up!

We raise the money ourselves for certain things. Fundraisers are used mostly. From choclate selling to candles, to even cooking supplies.

This is what other people have to say as to why you should sign this:

The arts can be defined by many things. Music, photography, digital, theater, orchestra, band, and mostly, a life-changer. Without arts, I personally don't know where I would be. Along with the many  others who participate in these activities, I put my heart and soul into them. It's a way to unwind from the stress school puts onto kids. I owe so much to the arts. I, along with other talented people, will probably persue my passion for forever. The arts create advanced, well rounded children of our future. If we cut these opportunities, we're onlycheating ourselves. So many people would give anything to save the arts. Sign this petition! -Anonymous

Why keep the arts? We need to keep the arts for many reasons. The first reason is because art is a form of culture. Without music and art, what would our culture be? Arts define us as a society and as an individual. Each person has their own form of expression, whether it be by singing a song or taking photographs. The second reason as to why we should keep the arts is because they help us academically. The performing arts has gotten me to be more open with creatively thinking and it made me less shy and much more social. Music changes a person’s mood, as well as painting, and to get rid of some peoples only way to describe their feelings is unfair. For some students, the only reason why they like going to school is due to art and music classes. Being social and enjoying school makes any person really happy. Studies show that the happier a student is, the better they do in school. The third reason to keep the arts is because of the future. So many people want to go to an art school or a music college because it’s what they want to do with their lives. To cut these classes can ruin any chance of these students ever going to do what they are good at in life. School taught me that you can go beyond your full potential, but by getting rid of art programs, it is impossible to do that. Art and music is something everyone can relate to and that everyone enjoys. The final reason as to why we need to keep the arts is because of the teachers. These teachers can help encourage us to go beyond our limits to achieve something amazing. Students care about music and art teachers because art and music classes are the only places where we can really feel completely free. It’s the only place where we can be ourselves. Students can improve upon their craft due to teachers. The arts mean everything to students, they give us hope. Arts make people realize that life is beautiful for little reasons, and they help us appreciate life. By appreciating life, people want to be more active in their community. Arts improve upon society and by not keeping them, society will end up dying. -J.B 9th
