New Career and Technology Center in Somerset County

   We the parents, citizens and business owners of Somerset County, Maryland propose the need for a new Career and Technology center to insure that the next generation of students have the skills and trades necessary to become productive citizens in a highly technical world. 

   Petition Backround: The current JM Tawes Career Center has been downsized by moving the Board of Education into the school. The last update to the Center was in 1975. The center is falling apart and has no room for expansion. Our County needs a Career and Technology Center to keep up with the growing education demands of the "STEM" programs as well as the traditional career programs. Every county in the state of Maryland has updated or built a facility to meet the current demands of these programs except for Somerset County.
