The discovery, naming and use of land of the Daiyutai Islands was recorded as early as 1403, Shun Feng Xiang Song (Sailing with a Fair Wind), a book composed by envoys sent by Chinese government (the Ming Court) which in charting the sea route and verifying the compass positons had sailed to Daiyutai Islands (a landmark in the sea lane from China to Ryukyu Islands) on numerous occasions.
