The timetable for our final examinations is now out and we have around 5 weeks before our first assessment. All of the exams are going to take place within days of each other. Many of us have to submit a 5000 word essay two days before the first exam. For most second-year students, these are the first University level exams which will count towards their degree and will determine 50% of their final mark.
Having such a short notice of the exam timetable and so little time for revision will certainly be detrimental to our performance, our welfare, and our future career prospects. In addition to that, Easter and Passover fall within the revision period and those of us who are observant have other obligations and commitments.
No one benefits from this arrangement. Subject Rankings are partly based upon how many students attain either a 2.1 or a first upon graduation. By not giving us an adequate amount of time for revision, the University is gambling with both our welfare and its own reputation.
Please consider an alternative arrangement which would be beneficial to all parties involved.
