My son is 16 yrs. old & has been practicing for his High School Jr. Varsity Basketball Team for one year now. (Even throughout the summer vacation). There have been many MANDATORY PRACTICES throughout this year and my son never missed one of them! Tryouts were Oct. 31, 2011 and there were two cuts afterward. My son made the team. I, being his Mom, went to a meeting around the 14th of Nov. for all team players. Was told to bring in money for uniforms and was told my son had made the team. During this meeting Coach Dre quoted, "Your kids may not like me because I work them so hard and I may cuss alot, but that means I am doing my job"!! He was very unprofessional. Today, Nov. 23rd, five days before the first game, my son was told he wasn't on the team. He came home devastated! I contacted Mr. Dre to find out that he wanted some of the football players on his team, whom I might add have never been to one of his mandatory practices, ever! And, they walk on the team five days before the first game and have a spot when my son has been told he made it, been to every single mandatory practice for one year!! This is unfair and illegal practice on a High School Athlete. It diminishes his chances for a scholarship to College and It is a form of child abuse in the form of mental abuse. This needs to STOP, now! We need to protect our children from people like this! This Coach needs to loose his job.
