North Cobb High School has a social studies based magnet program. Many students joined magnet because of this. Having a science based bundle would not fit the program.
APUSH and AP Lang compliment each other. What you learn in APUSH will help your knowledge of topics in AP Lang to write about and vise versa. Also, both classes are very challenging and would cause too much stress on students if they had to take it in only one semester. The school is currently considered an AP Merit school because of the AP Exam scores. By cutting each of these classes to one semester, it forces the teachers to cut cut out some of the curiculum, in turn, making students less prepared for the AP Exam at the end of the year. Because the bundle has always been the same, changing it now could have a bad effect on the scores; as of now, AP Lang has a 95% passing rate on the exam.
Many upperclassman who have taken the bundle already and ASR say that ASR is a class that does not require a year to complete. Also, theclass does not require and AP Exam at the end like APUSH and AP Lang. The problem with AP Environmental Science is that many raising juniors have already taken that class, so they would not have to take it as a junior.
Raising juniors are very upset with this new Bundle decision and think it was unfair to not have been informed about it.
