It would be beneficial toward our Agricultural (FFA) program to hire Mr. Brock Williamson because he has bettered this organization since he arrived at our school. When Mr. Williamson arrived at our school he had big shoes to fill. Our previous Agricultural teach had taught for 17 years before taking a job as the Elementary Principal. Many people loved Mr. Riehle and it was very hard for us to lose him. We had one sub before they hired Mr. Williamson and the students were not very welcoming because we were tired of having so many different teachers. At first nobody liked him because we thought that there was no way he could be anywhere near as good as Mr. Riehle, but after a few months of getting to know him we all realized that he was as good as Mr. Riehle.
When Mr. Williamson arrived at our school it was time for the FFA program to do our annual fundraiser. This fundraiser is a very stressful time for our Ag teacher and with the new teacher coming in we thought that it was going to be dreadful, but we all became very surprised when we found out that it was the most we had raised since we started this fundraiser. The reason behind this is the fact the Mr. Williamson took charge and did what he had to do so kids would sell their portion of the fruit. What made him so successful was the fact that he was well organized and instructed the students on how to approach the people to whom we would like to make a sale. He also had this fundraiser profitable by being student friendly and telling them why they had to sell the fruit.
Mr. Williamson has had the experience of being in the FFA when he was in high school so he knows how beneficial it can be for the students taking these agricultural classes. Another plus to having a teacher who has recently been in the FFA program is that he knows what we need to do to be successful in the activities and contest that we participate in. Some proof of this is that there are six people who are able to get their State Degree because we have a teacher who is very dedicated and has the student’s best interests at his heart. With this being said I would also like to state that he is very well prepared. Our FFA Banquet is in April and it is very important this year because it is the 75th anniversary of the Edgerton FFA Chapter, and Mr. Williamson is ready for the banquet as if it were tomorrow.
Mr. Williamson has become a very big asset to the FFA program. He has increased the participation of the students and has been very successful in the contests that we have entered. It has been heard that if Mr. Williamson does not get the permanent teaching job then many of the kids will drop out of the FFA program. Mr. Williamson has a lot of responsibility placed upon him when he entered our school and he has handled them extremely well. That is why people should sign this petition and make Mr. Brock Williamson our agricultural teacher for the 2013-2014 school year.
