The Chapel Hill Public Library recently underwent an expansion to provide the community with a larger space and more resources. The new library plans to open in early April; for more details on the renovation, see the CHPL website.
The library maintains the highest per capita circulation of any public library in North Carolina and consistently ranks among the two most highly valued services of the Town. With its expansion, CHPL expects to serve at least 20% more visitors.
The Chapel Hill Town Council's proposed 2013-14 budget would:
Reduce the hours per week from 68 to 54 (for the fewest hours of any public library in the region)

Cut Saturday hours by more than half

Result in longer lines and less access to staff

Cut services and programs that people of all ages, incomes, and levels of education have benefited from for years

If you oppose a reduction in hours, services, and programs at the CHPL, please sign below:

I oppose a reduction in hours, services, and programs at the new Chapel Hill Public Library, and
I support full funding of CHPL services and operations in its expanded facility at its current 68-hour week.
