The Wappingers Central School District is considering a plan to reconfigure the entire school district, effective as early as Fall 2012. This plan would remove thousands of children from their current elementary, middle, and high schools and require them to attend different schools. The negative implications for our children, families, and the community at large are widespread and perpetuate the instability of the district. The district has underwent multiple reconfigurations over the past few years; some neighborhoods would be facing their second reconfiguarion in four years. We urge the Board of Education consider alternatives which would work to solve the overcrowding without negatively impacting the children, and causing repeated transitions for our community.
