Wisdom is like wealth, where wisdom exists in the identity of its attribute. When one puts wealth under the microscope one discovers wealth is real estate, gold, silver, iron, dollars etc. or if the wealth is immense, it exists in multiple attributes. Wealth as an independent entity exists only in its attributes. A real-estate tycoon has wealth in the form of real-estate and his wealth also translates into the finest cars, homes, jewelry etc. Wealth exists in its attributes. Similarly wisdom exists in its attributes; where each attribute has in it all the other attributes of wisdom.
However unlike wealth where say wealth in gold has the property to get converted into any other attribute of wealth, wisdom exists in the form of all its attributes at once. If any one virtue is put under the microscope all the virtues will be clearly visible. Wise love also has in it sincerity, integrity, sacrifice, humility etc. All good emotions in their purest form are virtues, where the compound virtues are none other than wisdom. In fact wisdom has all human virtues in it simultaneously.
The other difference between wealth and wisdom is that an excess of say gold becomes wealth while in the case of wisdom it is the purity of say love that determines love as wisdom. So wisdom is the purifier of emotions. Love becomes wisdom when love is purified. Wisdom converts emotions into virtues.
However there is a single building block that purifies emotions and converts them into wisdom. Selflessness is the fundamental factor that makes every emotion into a virtue. All the attributes of wisdom when examined more minutely reveal themselves as selflessness.
The question is what is wisdom?
Wisdom is a compound of pure emotions! Wisdom is moral-excellence and every virtue all at once. Wisdom is the wealth of intelligence where wisdom is built with the single ingredient of selflessness. Just as a house is put together with ingredients bought with money; the compound ingredients of wisdom come into being with selflessness. Wisdom is selflessness.
Can wisdom be measured?
As wisdom is selflessness, by measuring selflessness; wisdom is measurable and quantifiable. Selflessness/selfishness one can detect, identify, define, measure and teach.
Can wisdom be taught?
As wisdom is selflessness and as selflessness can be taught; we can teach wisdom by teaching selflessness. However teaching selflessness is about unlearning selfishness.
Selflessness is not just a moral virtue, it is the essential key to becoming wise. Selflessness is the mother of all virtues as it is what brings wisdom into existence!
