Three of Earth's nine planetary boundaries have been breached, others are imperilled. Humanity faces a convergeance of crises. The International Energy Agency says the world is headed for irreversible climate damage in 5 years, the World Bank adds its voice and PriceWaterhouseCoopers warns that at current rates of emissions at least six degrees centigrade of warming could be possible by the end of the century, a catastrophic rise which will render large parts of the Earth uninhabitable and bring civilisation to a sad end. The international commitment is to limit warming to two degrees centigrade.
Decarbonisation with millions of green jobs, fossil fuels paying for climate damage and age-appropriate education programmes designed to keep up morale is essential if Homo Sapiens is to have a caring future in which Earth's people will thrive.
