JCC claims they want to have student dorms and a new health and science center, but I ask how can they get these facilities without answering one of the most important questions that must be asked first before any such projects can be built. The question of, how are they going to provide proper security for students after these projects are completed when their current security force is unable to properly maintain campus security right now and their administrators turn a blind eye to the suffering of their own students?
In fact not only is their current security force unable to maintain security on the campus, but they, the current security force, have abused students rights, harassed students to the extent that the students have had to seek mental help, facilitated and committed the theft of students property under the guise of disciplinary action multiple times, allow students to be both harassed and assaulted by other students, and they are opening the doors on a daily basis without having the internal or external network of cameras, which are meant for student safety, even turned on. These very same security officers are almost never in their office nor do they patrol the campus like they are supposed to. Instead they "hang out" in either the student activities office or in other offices except their own office. Are these things I have personally witnessed? Yes, including the supervising officer, in full uniform, shopping at the the Price Chopper on Arsenal St. while on duty for nearly 2 hours. Is there more proof of that these allegations are real? Yes, mountains of it, some from students linked to the student government. Has it ever been investigated? No, not once and any evidence presented to the administration office showing either student innocence or guilt, or even negligence of duty of the security force, is ignored. Are these the actions of responsible security officers or administrators? No they are not. Most disturbing though is the greatest violation of student rights, which is the fact that the administration at JCC, has not only allowed this to happen, but has done absolutely nothing about it.
To all JCC students current and former, To all parents, relavitves, and loved ones of current and former JCC students, and the general public, I invite you to seriously consider this petition, because it is your chance to finally have your say about the abuses and injustices the students of JCC have had to endure and may still be enduring. I espicially ask you to not be afraid or intimidated by JCC and to sign this petition and comment on it freely as anything JCC may attempt to do to the students or familes of the students who do so, will only further prove that JCC is guilty. So let them expel you, threaten you, or even try to ruin your education the way they have been for too long! Yes there is proof of this as well, as many students have already tried to speak up and were threatened by JCC with expulsion or other disiplinary action if they do. I say do not be afraid to stand up for yourselves so that they know that we, the students, will not be pushed around any more! Show JCC and the government that we have had enough and that JCC must be held accountable for its actions!
