Parents: DID YOU KNOW?
The DIBELS testing and assessment system takes away valuable teaching time from our children. Teachers are spending up to 30 full days out of the school year dedicated to assessing our children, NOT teaching them.
The students are assessed 1-on-1 with the teacher and given a minute-long test. This process doesn't take just one minute per child though, it can take up to 10 minutes per child. With class size at 26 kids per class and up, this takes forever. The other children are left to do "busy work" while the children are being individually assessed.
Teachers have had to bring in substitutes and spend more of our school's money just so they can get these assessments completed. This is unnecessary and a waste of resources that could better be used to enrich our children's learning.
