In light of what happened the day of December 14, 2012 in Conneticut, I believe our children are not as safe as they should be in our area elementary, middle, and high schools. I believe that we as parents should not have to ever wake up wondering if this is going to be the last time we see our children. At my daughter's elementary school, anyone can walk right in and immediatly be at a classroom. The preschool classes are right at the main entrance of the school. We expect our children to be safe when they are in the hands of the teachers and principals. I trust my child's teachers that if something was to happen, they would know what to do, but to prevent a situation like this from happening is to be prepared, In my opinion, the schools are not prepared as well as they should be. I know that it might mean more money out of taxpayers but I don't think we can put a price on our children's saftey. I understand that times are hard and many families are struggling to get by, mine is one. But if it means having my child with me at night and have her safe at school, then I would gladly pay the extra bit. No family should have to go through what those families are going through. That's why I started this petition so maybe here in our county, we can make a difference. If I can get this going here, I thought about going statewide. Our children deserve to live their lives and not have it taken away from them by a psychotic maniac. Please sign the petition!
