All children with disabilities are eligible for a free and appropriate education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This program is federally funded and makes use of their, and our tax dollars. Unfortunately, religious students who apply for this program can only be placed at public, non-parochial schools. These schools do not meet the student's spiritual well-being or needs and their parents are thus paying great sums of money to enroll them in private schools while their non-religious peers are receiving the same education for free. To add insult to injury, parents of religious children with disabilites are paying tuition for private schooling AND tax dollars to fund a program useless to the. As such I would like to petition for school vouchers to defray the cost of private schooling for these individuals. Their secular education can be funded by the government and tax dollars as they are entitled to anyways, and the additional hours of religious study can be payed for privately. This will allow these special children to receive the education entilted to them without sacrificing their spiritual well-being.
