Urge Popular Tween Magazines to be Inclusive!

We know it is incredibly important to examine the images  our children are presented and ensure they are developing a positive self-image. Magazines that target tween girls have an obligation to ensure the images they present are positive, balanced and honest. According to the 2010 US Census Bureau, approximately 5.2 million children under the age of 15 have a disability. Young girls need to see images of girls who look like them. We ask that your magazine represent All American girls, in every issue-not as a 'special feature'-but as part of the regular features, both through photographs and illustrated features. As parents, tweens, and supporters of individuals with disabilities, we ask American Girl and Discovery Girl magazines to expand their reach to embrace all girls. Thank you.
