When a person is considering furthering thier education via a for-profit college they are making a life choice and need to examine what they are choosing carefully. They will not only be investing a great deal of money but valuable time they can not have refunded to them..I have had experience dealing with a for-profit college etc.. and can speak from experience but I have also researched this subject in great detail.
What is the purpose or focus of a for-profit college ? They are established or operated with the intention of making a profit (for shareholders). When I took a hard look at the definition of a for-profit college it made me stop and look at that statement, would it of altered my decision to attend a for-profit college, yes. There best intentions are not the students welfare. For-profit colleges are established or operated with the inention of making a profit for its shareholders.
High unemployment numbers have been sending numbers of people back to school, with the hope that thier new skills will land them a job. Tough economic times will always leave the door open for people etc.. looking to gain on other peoples misfortune. For-profit schools target the most vulnerable indviduals when they pay the high tuition of a for-profit school they believe they are invseting in thier future. There have been many times when the student discovers the degree they earned is not worth the paper it is written on and is little help in today's job competive job market. For-profit colleges can be considered a scam aimed at that the needy.

The tough economic times will always bring out people looking to make a fast profit at others expense. Despiration can make people do things that in ordinary times they would not do. Take for instance an education at a community college costs $3,000 and at a private college can cost over $50,000. There is also no proof that a for-profit schools offer a superior education. What makes the diffrence is the false hope that a for-profit college sells to the desperate.

Thank you to all who have taken the time to read this petiton and to consider the message I am attempting to convey. Hgher education is a huge investment of money and time no matter what school is chosen, look at all the options available, Do not make this decision in haste or take it lightly.
